Hayes raised the small blind and was called by Purdy in the big blind.

On the flop, things got wild.

Hayes led for 95,000 and Purdy raised to 225,000. Hayes then moved all in for 700,000 effective and Purdy called, setting up the biggest pot of the tournament.

Bodies are flying out the door already with several short stacks busting, along with one of the larger stacks in a major clash that's seen Paul Chamberlain take the chip lead.

Chamberlain and Paul Hair exchanged raises in early position until Hair's 325,000 chips were in the middle with pocket kings versus Chamberlain's pocket aces.

The aces held and Chamberlain had won a massive battle of Pauls to quickly launch his stack toward a million.

Billy Hayes Leads Sprint to $50,000 First Prize at BPO Florida World Championship

November 20, 2023 @ 09:19 AM

Billy Hayes

Two thrilling fast-paced opening days of action at the Bar Poker Open Florida World Championship have led to this.

An all-out sprint to the finish Monday, with $50,000 and Bar Poker Open glory to the winner.

Just 43 players remain from the 426 that began the weekend, with Billy Hayes of Loxahatchee, Florida leading the way with 790,000 chips.

Hayes may open the biggest bag when cards go back in the air at 11 a.m. ET, but his stack of 52 big blinds is far from secure given how shallow the collective stacks are.

There should be plenty of rapid carnage in the Palm Beach Kennel Club tournament room, as more than half the returning field has less than 20 big blinds, while 11 players come into play with ten or less.

This will make for a wild conclusion to the event with the champion truly earning their title by successfully navigating their way through the action to take home that hefty lion's share of the $122,688 prize pool.
