A trio of quick eliminations has thinned the field to 30.

The next elimination will send the final 29 players on to Day 2 and into the money.

After a raise under the gun by Steven Hibbs, Steve Mayer moved all in for 240,000 in the cutoff. Hibbs called to put him at risk.

John Purdy moved his last 160,000 in from the button and got called by Frazier Tedford in the small blind.

Purdy would need help to crack Tedford's kings, and he got a lot of it with the flop, giving him trips.

The board kept getting better for Purdy as well, as it completed with the turn and river, giving him quads to earn a sizeable double-up

With the bubble just four eliminations away, play has slowed significantly with the money and a spot in Day 2 within sight.

Case in point, a recent pot saw a pair of late position limps along with the small blind before Paul Chamberlain checked his big blind.

With 29 players making the money and advancing to Day 2, this may well be the final break of the day, as 11 eliminations in two hours is well within the realm of possibility.

While he calls himself an "Average Joe" (or Average Bob) in the poker world, Brooklyn native Bob Carswell, representing New York Free Poker has quite the poker tale to tell.

Diagnosed with dyslexia when he was a child, Carswell found a love of mind games and math, discovering poker at a later age which fell perfectly into his wheelhouse.

"I still can't spell worth a s***," joked Carswell, telling PokerNews that the math and psychology of poker is what drew him to the game about 15 years ago.

Carswell made his first trip to the World Series of Poker this summer, originally intending to play the Main Event as a bucket list item. Instead, he bought into several smaller events, including his first, the $500 Salute to Warriors event.

He fired two bullets in the tournament, bricking both, but said it was the greatest time of his life. That high would quickly be topped though by winning a Daily Deepstack the very next day for over $40,000!

Carswell still chose not to play the Main Event last summer, but says he'll definitely be playing it in 2024, and in the meantime loves playing in the Bar Poker Open.

With about 50,000 in the middle on a flop of , Jodie Wunderlich moved all in for just over 100,000 in the hijack. After some thought, she got called by Thomas Giglio in the cutoff.

Wunderlich had the best of it with a pair of fives, but she'd need to fade Giglio's straight and flush draws.

The turn immediately hit Giglio to give him the winning flush, with the river pouring a bit of salt into Wunderlich's wounds as she was eliminated from the tournament.

Samantha Skelly raised to 25,000 under the gun and got called by Marc Tima on the button, committing almost his entire stack.

On the flop, Tima committed his final 10,000 chips after Skelly moved all in.

One of the highlights of the weekend's events here at the Bar Poker Open Florida World Championship is the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) Celebrity Charity tournament taking place Sunday night here at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.

"Folding for the Families" will be the 56th CSOP event in its history, with all public donations going to benefit Folded Flag, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the U.S. military by aiding the families of fallen servicemen and women with financial support for continued education.

The event comes with a $5,000 first prize, along with other final table and silent auction prizes, plus several player bounties including Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi.

The event gets underway at 3:30 p.m. ET for a cocktail reception, followed by cards in the air at 5 p.m.

The $150 buy-in gets you into the reception as well as your tournament entry. For those just wishing to come to the cocktail reception, the cost of that is $75.

The tournament buy-in gets players 10,000 chips to start. Unlimited $50 rebuys for another 10,000 chips are available until the start of Level 9, so long as a player is below their original starting stack. In the break before the end of registration, a $50 add-on for an additional 20,000 chips is available.

Originally from Australia, but now living in Brooklyn, NY, Amanda Nissman's BPO origin story starts with a trip to the grocery store and a chance encounter at the meat counter.

Whilst awaiting her order, Nissman overheard now fellow Bar Poker Open member Sharon Raider speaking glowingly about her first experience with BPO. Nissman said hello and mentioned that she played a bit of poker and was interested in hearing about where Raider had had such a great time playing.

Raider told her about the New York Free Poker League, Nissman came out to play, and eight years later, Nissman is here in Florida representing NYFP at the Florida World Championship.

Nissman says she's primarily a recreational player with a $2,800 online cash at the top of her list of accomplishments, but she also has a pair of WSOP Colossus cashes on her resume as well.

The field continues to thin rapidly with just 90 players remaining at the third break of the day.

Play will continue until just 29 remain, all of whom will be in the money and advance to Day 2.

Picking action up on a flop, Phil Hoff checked and his opponent on the button bet 15,000.

Hoff then moved all in, with his opponent well covered. After some thought, the button chose to fold and preserve his remaining 35,000 chips, while the defending champion is building himself a formidable stack.
